Located in Stoke Newington, this project extends and existing mid-terrace house with a contemporary side extension. We were asked to create a space for living and contemplation which retained elements of the original building while also adding a modern twist to the space.
The change in level between the kitchen and main body of the house enabled a full-width side extension to be fitted in without over-shading the neighbouring property.
A garden wall of stock brick was to be retained, and this was separated from the main body of the house through the use of a structural glazed 'slot' which emphasised the distinction between old and new.
